The initiative of the Alumni of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) to proffer solution to lack of funding from the two owner states of the institution has received an encouraging boost from foremost philanthropist and politician, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
Engr Seyi Makinde announced a donation of N5million in two tranches of N2.5m each on Saturday.
He disclosed this while the coordinators of the Crowd funding initiative led by Dr Saheed Ige met him at his Ikolaba, Ibadan residence on Saturday to present the misery and dream shattering experiences of both students and staff of the institution.
Ige explained that over thirty thousand students and staff have been depleted by the crisis.
He called on Engr Makinde to assist the sinking institution.
In his response Engr Seyi Makinde said he is always ready and willing to assist people and institutions in Oyo state in a way that will empower the products.
He, however, said he would prefer to call on experts and stakeholders of the institution to find a sustainable solution that will lead to long time solution and unlock the potentials of the products of the institution.
He later announced N5m donation but in two tranches of N2.5 million each
The team thanked Engr Seyi Makinde for the support and promised to make use of the fund judiciously.
