Ogun State House of Assembly has commended the Management of the Ogun Waterside East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) for collaborating with the State Government and other security agencies in the restoration and sustenance of peace in the area.
Members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led by Hon. Olusola Sonuga gave the commendation in continuation of its oversight visit to headquarters of the LCDA at Bolorunduro Efire in Ogun Waterside.
Sonuga noted that peaceful environment remained essential to the advancement of socio-economic development of any society, while advising the LCDA to sustain the mutual interdependence among the executive, legislature and the career staff for the development of the council area.
He implored the LCDA to put in strategies for improved Internally Generated Revenue,,IGR, just as he counseled them on alternative means to achieve low cost road maintenance.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the LCDA, Mr Musa Olubode said that his administration had embarked on cleaning of road verges, grading of roads in the council areas as well as provision of logistic support to the security agencies posted to the area to combat kidnapping and militancy .
Meanwhile the State House of Assembly Committee has directed the Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government Council , Mr Femi Onanuga to adjust the brief on the budget performance of the Council and represent same to the State House of Assembly within two weeks.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Sonuga, who gave the directive shortly after the oversight visit to the council. pointed out that the brief on the council performance between January and August 2017 was not in conformity with the standard required.
Responding, Onanuga promised to adjust the relevant areas and report back to the lawmakers while thanking them for their resolve to promote good governance through the oversight visit to the councils.
