The Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, has underscored the importance of the legislative arm of government in the South Western Nigeria describing it as pivotal to the actualization of sustainable development framework for the region.

The Acting Director-General of the Commission, Mr Seye Oyeleye said this during a courtesy visit on the leadership of the Ogun State House of Assembly at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

Oyeleye explained that the legislative arm remained the bedrock of democracy as it was saddled with the responsibility of enacting robust legislations for the economic prosperity of any developing nation, describing the State Houses of Assembly in the South West as a model of the defunct old Oyo Empire which had been consistently addressing the development needs of the people in the region.

He remarked that the Commission was committed to putting in place a composite regional development strategy to be pursued by all States in the South West to achieve and fast track the development of the region irrespective of inclination and political affiliations.
