EKIRS Holds Inaugural Board Meeting

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS), Mr. Olumuyiwa Ogunmilade has called for a synergy between the State Internal Revenue Service and all revenue generating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Mr. Ogunmilade who made the call during the inaugural meeting of the Board of EKIRS held at the Revenue House in Ado Ekiti, stressed the need for a cordial working relationship between EKIRS and all revenue generating MDAs in the State.

He stressed that such collaboration was essential to the state economic and infrastructural development.

Ogunmilade described the inauguration of the board for the State Revenue Service as a practical demonstration of the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to both financial and administrative autonomy to the Agency.

According to him, the State Internal Revenue Service has commenced a tax administration reforms that would block all leakages in revenue generation and eliminate double taxation as directed by Governor Kayode Fayemi.

In her response, the Chairperson, Ado Local Government, Mrs. Omotunde Fajuyi lauded the swift response of Governor Fayemi in granting full financial and administrative autonomy to the State Revenue Service.

Mrs. Fajuyi however noted that the system is only as strong as those who are in the position to make it work. “No matter the system in place, people always look for loopholes and ways to punch through and this is something we need to block. The system can only be strong if those in charge of it are strong and passionate to make it work”, she said.
