In recognition of his outstanding dedication and commitment towards humanitarian services in the country, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has bestowed Special Recognition Award on Mr. Okanlawon Bamigboye, the Commandant-General, Road Accident Information & Rescue Organization (RAIRO).

Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who was represented by the Commander, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), AbdulFatai Olaseni Ogunyemi said his administration would do everything humanly possible to serve with greater sense of dedication, vigor and vitality.

He noted that the recognition given to Road Accident Information and Recue Organization Commandant-General was spurred by the efforts and contributions of the organization towards humanitarian services.

Amosun, therefore, commended the organization for all it has been doing and charged the members to keep the good work going.

In his response, Commandant-General, Road Accident Information & Rescue Organization (RAIRO), Mr. Okanlawon Bamigboye thanked the governor for the wonderful gesture extended to the organization, adding that his remarkable contributions towards promotion of road safety activities in the state cannot be overlooked.

While explaining the reasons behind the formation of the organization, Okanlawon noted that Road Accident Information & Rescue Organization is a non-governmental organization, formed with the aims and objectives of addressing carnage on our roads, environment as well as to serve as an advocacy group for safety consciousness among road users in Nigeria.

He stated that the organization has established Emergency Rescue Information Control Centre (ERICC), where operators receive and answer incoming emergency telephone calls from members of the public in need and requesting for rescue assistance, as well as dispatch information received immediately to the relevant rescue agencies, such as Hospitals Ambulances, FRSC, Fire Service, Nigeria Police, NSCDC, NEMA, TRACE, Rescue Marshals, State Ambulance Services, State Emergency Management Agency and other rescue service providers, for them to dispatch the relevant resources such as personnel, ambulance

and equipment to where they are needed for prompt rescue assistance.

Okanlawon commended Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the support he has been given to the security and rescue outfits in the state. He, therefore, solicited for his continued support.
