Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the governor of Oyo State has sacked his Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Mudathir Abdulganiyu. He has also charged the state’s workforce on need to approach their duties with positive mental attitude.

PMParrot source confirmed that the ex-commissioner received the letter of termination of his appointment on Tuesday morning. He was not part of the members of the cabinet that accompanied the Governor to a function he earlier attended same day.

The reason behind the termination of his appointment is not yet known as at the time of filing this report.

However, some minutes after he was sacked, Alhaji Mudathir went to his Facebook page and wrote “Aliamudulilahi, Aliamudulilahi Aliamudulilahi; dear friends, I wish to let you know that I have finished my tour of duty as Oyo State Commissionerof Special Duties. I thank you all for your prayers and support while it lasted. God bless you all.”

Meanwhile, Senator Ajimobi has charged the entire workforce in the State to have positive mental attitude to whatever they are doing in their respective place.

The Governor stated this while declaring open a one day capacity development programme organized for Management and Senior Staff in the state’s civil service held at the House of Chiefs Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan.

In the words of the Governor, “always think big and be proud of yourself. Don’t let anybody put you down because there’s nothing you want to do that you cannot succeed. 70% of the people will always tell you that what you want to do will not be possible but if you listen to them you will not make it. You must constantly learn new things, never be afraid to learn, to talk, to review, and not be afraid to stand before the people.”

While speaking on the theme of the training, titled: Work Ethics and Attitudinal Change for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery in the Public Service, Governor Ajimobi explained that this training could not have come at a better time than this when the attitude of workers in the work environment is low and ethical standards have increasingly become matters of huge concern to the state government.

The Governor further disclosed that because the present administration under his leadership valued human capital development, it has trained more than 16,000 public servants including members of the teaching staff both locally and internationally between 2011 and 2014.

He further hinted that the restructuring exercises comprising of rationalization and realignment of ministries/departments/agencies, verification of staff certificates, manpower audit embarked upon by the government were done to ascertain the size of the workforce and to eliminate ghost workers among the civil servants.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Head of Service, Mr Soji Eniade hinted that the training programme put together by his office was aimed at addressing the issue of poor attitude and low ethical value in the service.

Mr Eniade admonished all participants to actively participate, ask questions, share experiences and ideas with others and make necessary contributions so that  at the end of the programme, a Policy document on Attitudinal and Ethical Standard in the Civil and Public Service of Oyo State would emerge.
