Governor Ajimobi Praises Oyo Chief Judge, Says He Is ‘Noble’

The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has saluted the courage and cooperation of the state’s judiciary under the leadership of Chief Judge, Justice Munta Ladi Abimbola, for ensuring a sustainable judicial institution in the state.

Governor Ajimobi, who was represented by his Commissioner for Health, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan gave this commendation at the special prayer session to mark the beginning of Oyo State 2017/2018 Legal Year, held at Ibadan Central Mosque, Oja’ba.

The governor noted that ever since his assumption of his office in the last six years, he is ensuring that the three guiding principles of peace maintenance, security and determined pursuit of rule of law are strictly adhered to.

He acknowledged the nobility of the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Abimbola and the entire members of the judiciary for ensuring that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man. He then went ahead to urge the judges not to relent in their efforts.

While talking about some of the achievements his administration has recorded so far, Governor Ajimobi stated that the urban renewal programmes embarked upon by the government has transformed the state into modernity, adding that the newly established Technical University, Ibadan and the just released West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) results, which was the best in the state in the last 18 years have shown the commitment of the present administration towards education.

Speaking with journalists, the Oyo State Chief Judge, Justice Munta Abimbola expressed the readiness of the judges to expedite actions in the delivery of judgements, noting that the mechanism (ADR) that will facilitate speedy hearing of cases will soon be inaugurated in the state.

He further disclosed that the structure of family court is nearly completed, stating that the development will give access to the enforcement of fundamental human rights of the child under the 2006 Child Rights Law of Oyo State.

Justice Abimbola noted that the level of awareness has increased in order to ensure that all criminal related matters are settled promptly.

In a sermon delivered by the Head of Department, Arabic and Islamic Studies, Professor Kamil Oloso of the University of Ibadan on “Religion Values and Political Values”, Nigerians were enjoined to allow their religions and ethics and ideologies of their beliefs to guide their political activities in order to guarantee political stability and economic prosperity of Nigerians.

Professor Oloso emphasized that any attempt to rebrand or restructure the country without putting into consideration the establishment of a national institute for moral training that will see to the rebirth of those aspiring for political leadership at whatever level will amount to nothing.
