In her effort at transforming the lives of the vulnerable and less privileged children in the society, the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Chief (Mrs) Florence Abiola Ajimobi has presented various gifts items to no fewer than 30 orphanage homes in the State.

At the programme where children that came from different orphanage homes gathered to commemorate this year’s independence celebration, Mrs Ajimobi explained that the gesture was aimed at celebrating independence anniversary with citizens of Oyo State especially the less privileged so as to show them love and give them sense of belonging, which would further build their self esteem.

Mrs Florence Ajimobi has engaged in the gesture for the past six years in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community Development and Poverty Alleviation to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden.

According to Mrs Ajimobi, “the children, despite their vulnerability remain the hope of the country. The celebration of the country’s independence must also be extended to the less privileged and vulnerable so as to give them sense of belonging as future leaders of the country.

“These children are leaders of tomorrow. We are hopeful about them. Particularly, we are celebrating them because they are very special and dear to me. The fact that they are vulnerable children does not really make them less privileged than the others. And that is why any opportunity that I have to put a smile on their faces gladdens my heart. Every October 1st, as we celebrate the nation, as we celebrate freedom, as we celebrate moving from under developed country, as we celebrate the peace reigning in the country and our good leadership, I also want to celebrate these children because they are leaders of tomorrow.” Mrs Ajimobi asserted.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Community Development and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Atinuke Osunkoya eulogized Mrs Ajimobi for giving the welfare of the children utmost priority, stressing that she had always made out of her busy schedule to identify with the less privileged.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Coordinator, Children of Promise Ministry, Ibadan Mrs Funmilayo Eden appreciated Mrs Ajimobi for showing love to the vulnerable children as Nigerians celebrated independence anniversary.

She used the occasion to call on other well meaning individuals to emulate the gesture of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Ajimobi who always remembers the needy.
