Prolific Iceland international striker, Kolbeinn Sigþórsson is targeting a spot in the national team’s roster for the 2018 World Cup and thinks Nigeria will be under more pressure when they face off at Volgograd Arena, Volgograd on June 22.

In an interview with the official website of Nantes, Sigþórsson who is a teammate of Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem said Nigeria has a good team and they would be under pressure when both team meet at the World Cup.

”If things are going well, I hope I can be part of it (the World Cup). There is still a long way to go for me. But if I get in shape and if I play regularly, I see myself go well,” said Sigþórsson.

”We have a lot of quality attackers. It will not be easy. But I remain positive and I hope I can be there.”

Asked if he has spoken to Awaziem, Sigþórsson answered : ”We talked a bit about it. We never played against each other. It will be an interesting match.

”Nigeria has a good team. It will be interesting to see how we can do. I will put some pressure on him before the match. Iceland is a small country. All the pressure will be on them.”

Kolbeinn Sigþórsson, 27, has scored 22 goals in 44 matches for the Icelandic team, and is famous for scoring against England at the 2016 European Championship.
