Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has moved to allay fears surrounding the injury which forced him off during Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League draw against Kwara United.
The Enyimba goaltender landed somewhat heavily in claiming a high ball, and was substituted midway through the second half in his second appearance for the People’s Elephant this season
He, however, is extremely confident of a swift return to action.
“It was just a minor injury. I have to thank God, it was not a serious blow,” Ezenwa told Enyimba Media.
”Ezenwa is coming back (to training) in just about two or three days I will start training. I thank God for everything.”
On if he will be ready for the CAF Confederation Cup second leg match against Bidvest Wits F.C , Ezenwa said : ”The doctor has given me some ice and other medication.
”I think by the grace of God I will be fine before the CAF Confederation Cup. The most important thing is that I want to let my fans all over the world and in Nigeria know that it is not a serious blow, it’s just a normal injury that happens to a player and in a couple of days I will start training.”
Ezenwa was not utilized by manager Gernot Rohr in the Super Eagles friendlies in March against Poland and Serbia.
