The late leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the South Western State of Nigeria, Alhaji Taofeeq Oyerinde has been described as a peace loving and God sent leader who restored peace back to the union in Oyo State.

Speaking in Ibadan, a leader of the NURTW from Lagelu local government area of the state, Alhaji Asimiyu Aderemi Odedeji said his late leader excelled all other past leaders of the union in the state when he talked peace maintenance in the union.

He stressed that during the tenure of Alhaji Oyerinde (a.k.a. Fele) there was no crisis and no misunderstanding among members of the union both in Oyo state and the entire southwest in general.

Alhaji Odedeji, who said he has been together with late Oyerinde Taofeeq said there was no time that the late leader dreamt of becoming either branch chairman of the union not to talk of either the state or the regional chairman, where he found himself before his death.

He said late Alh. Taofeeq Oyerinde was one of the special guards to one of the past chairmen, Alhaji Tokyo who among others submitted his name to the state government to occupy the seat in 2008.

He maintained that the name of Alhaji Fele was the last name in the list presented to the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi because he was the most junior among them.

While lamenting the effect of the death of the late leader, Alhaji Odedeji said that the union will suffer his death in the state.

He, however, cautioned those aspiring to succeed him to follow the foundation left by him.

He urged whoever becomes the successor of the late leader to do away with rumormongering and always carry along other members of the executive to allow cooperation and understanding.

He also called on the state government to continue its assistance and co-operation with members of the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

He prayed for the soul of the late Alhaji Taofeeq Oyekunle Oyerinde to rest in perfect peace.
