Armed robbers have renewed their onslaught against residents of Ibadan as they were reported to have massively raided residents of Boluwaji, Molete and environs in the capital city of Oyo State in the past 48 hours.
A resident of Molete who spoke with PMParrot informed that the robbers came in an 18 seater-bus armed to their teeth.
Said the resident “when they arrived on Wednesday night, they shot into the air and asked all residents to submit their valuables. They raided at least 18 houses before they left.”
The report we got from Boluwaji Area was, however, different. The robbers, numbering about 20 stormed the area in a big bus that could not be identified by the resident who spoke with us.
Said the resident who begged to remain anonymous, “they got to our community at around 1am on Friday morning. They used a big stone to hit our main gate shouting that we should come and voluntarily open it for them. I did. And I was asked to lead them to the other residents living within our compound comprised of four flats.
“They first followed me to my flat where they ransacked my wardrobe, took away some cloths, my handset and old trinkets.
“I then took them to the other flats where they collected more handsets. When they got to one of the flats being occupied by some young boys, there was a small scuffle and they had to beat up the boys. Eventually, they took away their phones, flat screen television sets and other valuables.
“After the robbers left out compound, they went ahead to raid at least seven other buildings before they left. They spent almost two hours carrying out their nefarious activities.
“It was after they had left that we found out that they had earlier tied up our security guards. Our elders later went to the Sanyo Police Station, located less than two kilometers away, to officially report the robbery.”
Some of the other residents who spoke with PMParrot used the opportunity to call on the government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi to do more to secure the lives and properties of Oyo State residents.
Said the residents “We know he is doing a lot. We are sure he can do more. He should further encourage all the security outfits in the state through his Special Adviser on Security, Mr Bolarinwa.”
