Bello Retires, Replaced By Amba Asuquo As Ekiti Police Commissioner

A new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State has resumed in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital.

He is to take over from Mr. Bello Ahmed who has officially attained his retirement age. Mr. Amba Asuquo, the new Commissioner of Police was posted from Bayelsa State to replace Mr. Bello Ahmed.

In a release signed and circulated on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ekiti State, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, it was revealed that “the new Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo graduated from the famous University of Lagos (UNILAG) in 1984 and enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet ASP in 1986″.

DSP Caleb Ikechukwu listed the various duty posts the new Ekiti State Police helmsman has been assigned to work in the past till date to include the position of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Anti – Bomb Unit EOD Force Headquarters in Abuja; the Commissioner of Police Inspectorate / Training and Doctrine, Force Headquarters in Abuja; Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command where he was transferred from; Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit Force Headquarters in Abuja and a team member of the United Nations Peace Keeping Mission in East Timor and Liberia”.

While the new Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, Mr. Amba Asuquo was addressing the Officers of the Command at the Police Headquarters in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, he charged them to be more determined and committed towards enhancing a robust policing to actualize the transformation and re-positioning agenda of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris.

He also urged them to always ensure they work within the ambit of the country’s Constitution while carrying out their duties as security personnel. He promised to deploy community Policing strategy to reduce crimes in the state and ensure professionalism, transparency, honesty, firmness and total dedication to duty.

He equally used the opportunity to seek for the cooperation, collaboration and partnership with members of the public. He urged the public to always give useful and timely information to enable the Command rid the state of all forms of criminality so as to enhance economic development for the State.
