Makinde then assured that PDP is ready to oust the government of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state and Nigeria.

Makinde stated this while addressing thousands of supporters and indigenes of the party who gathered at campaign venue to welcome the candidate and PDP members to the community.

The gubernatorial candidate had earlier been guest of traditional council members of Ogo-Oluwa local government who assembled at the palace of the traditional ruler of Pontela.

The team also visited the Chief Imam of Ajawa who is also the head of Imams in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Alhaji Yusuf Amuda Ibrahim and the Alajawa of Ajawa, Oba Oyedemi Adeyemo, Ikupaolusi II, respectively.

Other dignitaries on the campaign team include the deputy gubernatorial candidate, Mr Raufu Olaniyan, Makinde’s wife, Omini, state chairman of PDP, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, PDP secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Chief Jacob Adetoro, former senate deputy chief whip,Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, Chief Bisi Ilaka, former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chief Bayo Okeyode, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoenia and Alhaja Bose Adedibu among others.

Addressing the crowd, Makinde said “we’re here to seek your vote for our great party. As you all know this party while in power identified with you in terms of infrastructural development and welfarism. Again, on behalf of PDP we’re appealing to you to vote for our presidential candidate; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his vice, Peter Obi, myself as the next governor of Oyo state, our senatorial candidate, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Elder Matthew Abioye as your representative at the House of Representatives and for House of Assembly.

“It is evident that the current government has been playing politics with development. Cast your votes for PDP starting from February 16 election, don’t give in to vote buying and put yourselves into another four years of bondage. If you collect the money to prepare soup as they say, such can’t last you more than 48 hours. Vote for PDP because from our findings, people gladly wants PDP back, kindly endure for just two months as we’ll send APC packing in Oyo state.”

At the Pontela palace, the spokesperson of the traditional rulers, Oniwo Ate of Iwo Ate, Oba Isiaka Rasaq thanked the PDP campaign team for deeming it fit to call on them.

Oba Rasaq who commended the party for the past record in initiating development in the local government then charged Makinde put at mind when he is eventually elected into power.

He said “we’re suffering in the rural areas, we want the government to rehabilitate our roads, electrify our communities and also cite higher institution of learning in our domains. Ibadan, Oyo, Iseyin, Saki and Ogbomoso have been saturated with enough developmental features, consider us because we know it will liberate us economically and aid development. “

In his response, Makinde promised that his administration will be committed to sincere and practical grassroots development of the community.
