Following a not unimpressive outing at the Nigeria National League (NNL) ‘Super 8’ tournament recently held in Aba, Oyo Sate commissioner for Youths and Sports,  Barrister Yomi Oke and the general manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Rashidi Balogun have apologized to the teeming fan of the traditional club.

The duo made the plea while speaking at the congress held by the Oyo State Football Association on Friday at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan where the commissioner said the Aba result did not reflect the true capacity of the team that conceded the least goals in the last season at NNL.

“I hereby sincerely apologize for not making it to the elite division, but I’m bold to state that our team is quite more promising than the outcome of Aba Super 8, I can assure our fans that, we will go back to the drawing board and fortify the team ahead of the coming season.

“We will play the politics of the game and we will do our best to challenge and come out much more stronger than before, as we will try to keep majority of the boys we have in the team now”, Yomi Oke noted.

Speaking in the same vein, the general manager of 3SC, Rashidi Balogun begged the Governor of the state for the disappointing NNL outing saying Senator Abiola Ajimobi actually did his best for the management of the team.

He, however, accepted the blame for the slide suffered by the traditional team after finishing as the runners up at the end of NNL 2017/2018 season, saying he should be held responsible for the 3SC woe as the drama that played out in Aba was a big slap on his face.

“I want to thank our governor for his support and belief he has in our team. We disappointed the Shooting fans that are spread across the globe and I’m taking the responsibility for the poor results, it was actually a disappointing situation for all.

“I don’t fear being fired because the game of football is about hire and fire, but I’ll appeal for understanding and cooperation of all and sundry towards bringing back the lost glory of the big club.

“In-fighting and bickering among people considered as stakeholders are major factors I noticed since arriving here – this is affecting the fortune of this great clubside”, Balogun noted.
