Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has attributed the victory of her husband, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, at the last July 14th, 2018 gubernatorial poll in the state to God’s mercy shown to herself and her husband during their challenging period.

Mrs Fayemi who shared her testimony at the annual women conference programme tagged: ‘Women on the Winning Edge 2019’ which was anchored and organised by Rev. Funke Felix Adejumo of Agape Church in Lagos on Saturday, said her resolve to wait on God with absolute trust in His powers saw her family through trying times and ultimately handed victory to Governor Fayemi.

The programme was attended by other first ladies such as that of Kwara State, Deaconess Omolewa Armed; Lagos State first lady, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode as well as the former first lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola  and Architect Jumoke Adenowo among other distinguished women.

Speaking about the challenging times she experienced before her husband’s victory, Erelu Fayemi said: “many of those who have been following the political terrain in Ekiti can attest to the challenges we went through but out of which we were victorious. We appreciate you for always praying for us, all of you and those with us from Ekiti State. I can tell you that last year has been the most challenging year ever experienced in my family”, she revealed.

But using a Biblical passage, Psalm 27, which expresses gratitude to God for His mercy and favour in times of trouble, to substantiate her testimony, she said: “God’s Mercies come with their conditions, and they are that if God has shown you mercy you need to show mercy to others and when he shows you favour, you have to show favour to others. If you are not doing this, it shows you are not being grateful to God.

Expressing her gratitude to God, she quoted from Psalm 27:14 which states that we should ‘wait on the Lord, and be of good courage, for Him to strengthen our heart’. She stressed on the need to wait on the lord more emphatically.

She testified that it was because of her waiting on the Lord and being of good courage and working without fear that helped her to prevail and triumph over her battles. She equally urged and advised other women to learn and take a cue from her to help them also triumph over their battles and trials of life.

The Convener of the program, Rev. Mrs. Funke-Felix Adejumo, explained that “the inspiration behind the program is that God spoke to her heart that many women are not happy they have lost their dances, some of them because they got into wrong marriages, wrong husbands, many of them are depressed and God said I should gather them together. He wants to restore their dignity. The first day, we preached to them and the second day they danced. A woman is beautiful and should not be oppressed”.

“No woman should sit on the fence, grab your PVC, join a political party that you like its ideology, values, and participate in politics. Women should rise up and as they are rising up, we are supporting them,” she declared.
