The Oyo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BOTAVED) has given certificate of operation to one of the foremost and respected digital photography outfits in Nigeria, Pixels Digital Photography Limited to run its photography school, Pixels International Academy.

The announcement by the government’s agency came at the time the company is putting measures in place to celebrate its 16 years of building global standard creative capacity for young people and contributing to the socio economic development of Nigeria through technical and vocational training.

In a media parley organized by the photo company recently at its Bodija head office in Ibadan, the Chief Executive Officer, Omolaraeni Olaosebikan described Pixels International Academy as an arts school designed to enable people develop professional confidence, technical proficiency, explore and define their own divergent creative vision.

She explained that the academy is laced with the goal of helping the populace to discover career in photography adding that Pixels International Academy is an avenue to lay a solid foundation for students to ensure global competitiveness through practical with world-class and sophisticated photography equipment.

The Pixels CEO identified focus on technical and business sides of photography that prepare students to compete both at national and international levels as a result of solid foundation embedded in the school’s curriculum as factors that prompted recognition and certification from BOTAVED. Mrs. Olaosebikan, who led journalists on a facility tour, added that the academic calendar of the college also provided opportunity for interns to exhibit skills acquired.

According to her, “to our high esteem students and prospects, we are going this extra mile to ensure a career path that anyone can boast of as they journey through the line of greatness and excellence. With this approval, we are able to assure all our students and prospects that their certificate is government backed and can be used to further studies within the industry both at home and abroad.”

While briefing journalists, the company’s Managing Director, Oluwadolapo Isola noted that the company has trained over 100 creative professionals who have been making waves in the business of photography all over the country and beyond.

She disclosed that as part of its Community Social Responsibility (CSR), Pixels Photography Limited has offered scholarship to indigent students; organized trainings for students from orphanages and in collaborated with government through Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and trained about 35 youth corps members in the areas of arts, science and business of photography.

She highlighted skill set, exposure, learning by doing, full immersion, professional education; evolving and creative expression that encourages originality and critical thinking as major factors that enable Pixels to stand out among its contemporaries.

The media parley was also attended by the Head of Operation, Deborah-Adebola Moody, Head of Marketing, Ikechukwu Osuya and Ajibola Oluwafemi, one of Pixels’ students.
