A prominent Ibadan indigene and businessman, Otunba (Arc) Hassan Giwa, has called on the warring Ibadan Obas to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign in the city.

Giwa gave this advice while speaking to journalists on current issues in Ibadanland.

He also offered suggestions to Oyo State’s Governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde on what the people of the state expect him to pay attention to.

The Ibadan born businessman also appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji to forgive and forget whatever might have happened between the two factions in the name of peace, benefit of the incoming government, Ibadanland and Oyo State generally.

Otunba Hassan Giwa who expressed that the success of the newly elected governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde will be a collective responsibility of all and sundry, also opined that it will be a great disadvantage for the new government not to have everybody on the same page, particularly the Ibadan people.

The Abuja based Estate Developer, however, stated that, as a true son of the soil, he must express his mind on the matter, especially when the perception from outside the state and the country is taken into consideration on the issue since its inception.

He added that all hands must be on deck to ensure that parties involved sheath their swords in the interest of Ibadanland, the incoming administration, and Oyo State.

While also advising the state’s governor- elect, Otunba Giwa urged Makinde to remain focused and channel the state’s resources to areas where the state has comparative advantages.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Engr. Seyi Makinde to make a positive impact on the lives of the people of the state through people-oriented and developmental policies.

Giwa also used the opportunity to call on the people of the state to collectively support Engr. Seyi Makinde irrespective of political party affiliations, saying that the era of partisanship has gone, and what remains now is governance and how to take the state to another enviable position through purposeful governance.
