We Will Work In One Accord To Ensure Progress Of Oyo State – Oyo Speaker Assures

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has restated the commitment of the ninth Assembly to work in one accord to ensure the progress of the state.

The Speaker submitted that the House will always put God first in all its activities to be able to make laws and policies that will have direct and positive impact on the people of the state.

He gave the assurance during the induction of the Christian members of the Oyo State House of Assembly into the Christian Legislators’ Fellowship International, held on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at the Assembly’s Chapel.

Hon. Ogundoyin, while praying for the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for God’s wisdom and understanding to be able to lead in the right path, disclosed that all members of the House irrespective of political standing are working in our accord to ensure the progress of the state.

He solicited for the prayers and support of the Christian community, management of the House of Assembly and the entire people of the state for the present administration to take the state to greater heights.

In his sermon, Bishop Biodun Adeniji of Christ Life Church, Ibadan, urged all political office holders to be reminded that a call to political office is a call to ministry that is based on the trust people reposed in them.

Bishop Adeniji, while reading from the Bible urged the lawmakers to always have the love and fear of God in their hearts to be able to discharge their constitutional duties and responsibilities to the people of the state accordingly.

The cleric prayed for the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, members, the state and the country at large.

The immediate past Member of the House and President of the Chapel, Hon. Olusegun Ajanaku, noted that the significant of the day’s induction, was to make the lawmakers to dedicate their time to serve God.

He appealed to them to always find time to attend fellowship and endeavour to contribute their quota towards the completion of the chapel.

In his welcome address, the new President of the Christian legislators’ Fellowship International, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi, said that one of the purposes of the fellowship is to grow lawmakers in the way of God.

He assured the people of the state that all legislators will work in one accord to promote the unity of the state.

Part of the highlights of the event was the presentation of Bible to the newly inducted lawmakers and the special number rendered by the chapel’s choristers.

The induction programme was attended by former Members of the House, Hon. Olusegun Ajanaku and Hon. John Oyekola. Also present was the former Clerk, Barrister Paul Bankole.

Some of the honourable Members in attendance included Hon. Fatokun Ayotunde, who is the Chairman, Parliamentary Council, Hon. Seyi Adisa, Hon. Popoola Ademola, Hon. Owolabi Olusola and Hon. Ojedokun Peter.

Others included Hon. Ayotunde Akintunde, Hon. Bimbo Oladeji, Hon. Julius Okeyoyin and Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, who is the Majority Leader of the House.
