In demonstration of his love for the people of Ibadan and Oyo state in general, the Honourable Member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja. Hon Abiodun Dada Awoleye has staged a free medical outreach for the people of Ibadan North, Ibadan South East and Ibadan North West Local Government respectively.
The medical outreach program which was tagged “Health is wealth” commenced on Tuesday 20th March 2018 at Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat Agodi Ibadan at exactly 9 am with a large turnout of people across the Local Government and its Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
According to Hon. Awoleye, the medical outreach train moved to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan at Oja-Oba which is the scheduled venue of Ibadan South East Local Government of Awoleye medical outreach on Thursday 22nd March while that of Ibadan North West Local Government will hold at Oniyanrin Primary Health Care come Monday 26th 2018.
The lawmaker while speaking at the opening ceremony maintained that his concern for the well being of the people of his Constituency and Oyo state at large made him come up with the idea of free medical outreach where everybody would enjoy free medical treatment.
He stated further that the people of Oyo state need to live in sound health no matter the economic situation of the country.
“Many people know they have one ailment or the other but due to lack of finance, they choose to keep the state of their health the same way while I consider this to be too dangerous to their health. So, I decided to shoulder this as part of my token to the people of my constituency and Oyo state at large.
“Subsequently, other Local Governments will be contacted based on the availability of the logistics needed. My people know I don’t like doing things halfway, that is the reason I only started with just three Local Government Areas and their LCDA’s.
“We are targeting over 10,000 beneficiaries and with the situation of things, I have seen that this is possible as we’ve already recorded over 1500 beneficiaries on the first day. Everybody will be attended to and the necessary treatments will be given to them accordingly”.
While speaking about those that will need critical attention such as medical operation, he said people will enjoy the benefit of free medical operation as he (Hon Awoleye) will pay for their treatment without the beneficiaries making any payment.
Many medical facilities such as drugs, glasses and so on were distributed to about 2000 beneficiaries, while some people with urgent medical attention were being recommended to UCH for proper medical treatment and series of medical operation which will also be paid for by Hon Abiodun Awoleye .
Some of the leading members of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State present on the first day of the medical outreach included: Hon Segun Olaleye (member of OYHA IB North constituency 1), Hon Adegoke Basiru(Caretaker Chairman IBNLG), Hon Oladeji Ayobami (Caretaker Chairman Irepodun LCDA) Alh Kayode Adanta ( Oyo State APC financial secretary ) Alh Akibu Animasaun (Oyo APC assistant legal adviser)and all APC executives in Ibadan North Local Government.
