Prokonnect Limited was registered in 2004 to serve as the mother company to publish PM Parrot Evening Newspaper and Parrot Xtra Magazine. Our Corporate Headquarters has since remained in Ibadan with representatives’ offices at Ojodu, Lagos and Abuja.
Our ambition then was to completely take over the practice of purposeful journalism in the south west of Nigeria and, indeed, the whole country.
PM Parrot Evening Newspaper, which tells tomorrow’s news fresh today, started as an evening tabloid in 2004 and was consistently circulated for about four years before the creation of its online version.
Our sister publication, Parrot Xtra Magazine started about the same time. It concentrated on coverage of events and publishing in glossy vivid colours. It is still very much in circulation and is published twice a month.
We also presently run a weekly Radio Show on one of the biggest Radio Stations in Nigeria, Splash 105.5fm in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. The show, Parrot Xtra/Ayekooto Hour on Radio is broadcast live every Tuesday between 11am and 12 noon. On the magazine show, we interview the creamiest from the world of politics, sports, entertainment and others.
About Olayinka Agboola, our CEO/Editor In Chief: Attended Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan. Got two degrees from the University of Ibadan, B.A in Archaeology and M.A. in History. Later, he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos. He officially started his journalism career at the defunct Fame Weekly Magazine in Lagos in 1991 after his service year. He later worked at Ovation International Magazine, Thisday Newspaper, Eko FM Radio Station, Daily Sketch, Nigerian Tribune. He was a Press Secretary to a former Oyo State Governor before he floated Prokonnect Ltd in 2004.
