All is set for the hosting of Faaji Agba Eko, a musical concert which will showcase in entirety the rich, vibrant and nostalgic musical culture and heritage of Lagosians in its traditional and contemporary form.
According to the organizer of this event, Bimbo Esho, Managing Director of Evergreen Musical Company a company which has been the brain behind the preservation of Nigeria’s indigenous music for over 20 years, she explains that since inception, Lagosians have always displayed their traditional pride and dignity through their MUSICAL SOUND which daily expresses the resident as naturally industrious people; full of pride and self confidence.
Pursuant to this, Bimbo is of the believe that Lagos State is a state of deep rooted history, colorful traditions and immense resilience and she is therefore of the opinion that one of the ways to continuously capture and project these trait is in the continuous documentation and promotion of different traditional and contemporary music and musicians from different ethnicity whose music captures the total way of life of Lagos resident and Nigeria as a whole ie dressing, food, religion, politics, marriage, architecture, dance, etc
This one day event is taking place at the prestigious Absolute Lagos Event Center, Opposite TBS on Sunday December 16th by 3pm and will feature some music icons who have immensely contributed to the development of Lagos State.
Orlando Julius Ekemode a Nigerian music icon who has helped to pioneer new sounds into the Nigerian music scene while spreading the African sound to a broader audience around the world will be performing. He will also be marking his 75th birthday and 20 years back to the Nigerian musical scene.
Also the delectable Afro Jazz music Icon, Yinka Davies who is the compeer of the event will be taking the audience through memory lane with some core Lagos stories and musical performances.
The folk music grandmaster, Jimi Solanke and Laolu Akins the prominent music producer will be there to shed spotlight into the gradual development of Nigerian music using Lagos as an epicenter. The son of the legendary Mr Juju, Sina Ayinde Bakare will also serenade the audience with some fantastic Lagos roots music dating back to 100 years.
Buga Jesse King a contemporary Highlife musician and a core advocate of Nigeria’s indigenous music will be there to regale the audience with beautiful nostalgic Highlife tunes while also defining the connection between Lagos and Benin. Other contemporary musicians expected at the event are G. Thomas and Nightingale Ambassadors ( Owambe Musician), Dollars band ( Contemporary Highlife); Flash Band, Agidigbo Band, Royalbell Band (Repertoire Music), Evergreen Musical Band, etc
Also expected to grace the occasion are different Business Moguls from the Corporate world, Socialites from different Social Clubs in and outside Lagos, Music Clubs, Government Parastatals, Nigerian Musicians, Royalties, different print , radio and television media , academias, music lovers and others.
