Ahead of Nigeria’s Independent Day Celebration coming up on Thursday, October 1st, 2020, the Oyo State Police Command has assured the people of adequate security.
Commissioner of Police, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu said this in a press statement signed and made available to PMParrot, he disclosed that the state police force has put adequate security measures In place to ensure hitch-free celebration.
According to the CP, “I congratulate all the good people of Oyo State and also wishing them a fruitful independence celebration of the country’s Diamond Jubilee, October 1st, Independent Day. I want to assure that all Police tactical teams including Special Anti-robbery squad, (SARS), Anti-kidnapping squad, (AKS), Swift Response squad, (SRS), Police Mobile Force 4 and 72, Skynet squad, Puff Adder, Federal and Safer Highway Patrol teams, Counter Terrorism squad, (CTU) etc. have been deployed to all nooks and crannies within and outside Ibadan metropolis to provide adequate security for a hitch free celebration.”
Enwonwu charged members of the public to be wary of criminal elements that may be bent on carrying out their evil intentions during this period to maim or rob innocent citizens of their hard-earned money/property.
His words, “in view of the security challenges, the criminal minded individuals in our midst are obviously deploying all kinds of strategies, tactics and means to carry out their nefarious activities.
“Nonetheless, we averred that the Police in Oyo State Police Command are battle ready and will not relent in our efforts to protect lives and properties of the citizenry and ensure that they operate and carry out their lawful businesses in a safe and secured environment,” Enwonwu stated.
