A Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency of Oyo State, Hon. Ajibola Muraina has assured the teeming members of the party in the state that by God’s grace, they will not be denied the benefits of their labour and service to the party.
The federal lawmaker who stated this at the Oyo State factional PDP state congress which held at Jogor Events Centre, Ibadan, pointed out that the same delegates who participated in the 2017 state congress which ushered in the present PDP administration in Oyo State were the ones that gathered again at the Jogor centre to elect the new executive of the party on Saturday.
In a statement made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Olubunmi Sodipo, Hon Muraina said that the aim of the factional group was to return the party to the path of justice and fairness.
He noted that in 2017, the Oyo State PDP state congress was held simultaneously at two venues and although others are reaping the benefits of it today, praying that by God’s grace, the delegates at Jogor centre and the teeming party faithful they represent, will reap the benefits of this one.
The congress which witnessed the accreditation of 2,859 delegates, recorded 2,712 votes to elect Hon Michael Okunlade as Chairman, Hon Odesola Babatunde as Secretary, Alh Bolatito Akinyemi as PRO and Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye as Youth Leader, amongst others.
Prominent among the leaders of the Oyo State PDP at the state congress were Iba Oluyole, Chief Nureni Akanbi; Former House of Representatives Majority Leader, Hon Mulikat Adeola Akande; Alh Adebisi Olopoeyan; Former Deputy Governor, Alh Hazeem Gbolarumi and Engr Femi Babalola.
