Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been handed a huge boost ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations after it was revealed that Victor Osimhen could make an early return to training.
Osimhen suffered an injury to his left cheekbone and orbit after colliding with Milan Skriniar in Napoli’s Serie A clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro.
According to Italian tabloid La Gazzetta, Osimhen could make an early return to action earlier than scheduled.
La Gazzetta quoting an official of Napoli, wrote: “Last Monday he removed the stitches and is feeling pretty good, having already started working on an exercise bike and treadmill. Next Tuesday he will do the tac and x-ray and if everything goes as we hope, Victor Osimhen will be able to return to training in Castel Volturno, while the specialists from those exams will study the carbon mask to be supported on the boy’s forehead, so as not to press on the eyebrow. A mask that will be made with a 3D printer, on the cast of the center forward’s face.”
This latest development could see the former Lille striker turn out for the Super Eagles at AFCON, which begins on January 9. The Super Eagles begin their campaign two days later and will be hoping to have Osimhen available for the clash against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
