Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Adebayo Adelabu has revealed that the Engr. Seyi Makinde-led government in Oyo State is a total failure, affirming that Makinde will be defeated at the 2023 gubernatorial polls.
“The Governor has failed in his responsibilities and he must be ready to vacate office in 2023. I am ready to take over the seat of governance from him. We were defeated by a slight margin in 2019 as a result of coalition”.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful stated this during his formal declaration to contest for the gubernatorial seat at the party’s secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan on Thursday.
He further said, “Seyi Makinde is cheating the people of Oke-Ogun axis. The Ibadan-Iseyin road is too narrow considering the amount spent to rehabilitate that road. The Educational system in the state is in comatose; teachers are only paid salary without promotion and training”.
He further stated that the Engineer Seyi Makinde-led government in Oyo state is incapable of running the affairs of the state, stating that the governor has popularized insecurity, anarchy and hooliganism in the state.
He said, “Security situation is in a sorry state in the state. Many of the police stations burned during the End-SARS protest are yet to be rebuilt. We wanted to reconstruct it but the governor refused. The gruesome death of Ramon Azeez in Iwo Road is still fresh in our memory”.
Adelabu further stated that his government if elected will place priority on security of lives and properties, agriculture, education, infrastructural development, health care services while revealing that residents of the state in Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, Ogbomosho, Oyo and Ibadan are fully in support of his ambition.
Speaking further, the former deputy governor of Oyo State, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo stated that Bayo Adelabu possesses the prerequisite to lead Oyo state to greater heights considering his monumental achievements while serving at CBN.
He, however, urged the party’s delegates to vote for Mr. Adelabu as the state’s gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming primary election scheduled to hold next week Friday.
Hon Gunju Ojo, former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly revealed that APC in Oyo state is not polarized while urging the people to get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) in order not to be disenfranchised in the 2023 election.
Dignitaries present at the declaration ceremony included the Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo, APC Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2019 general election, Hon. Samuel Egunjobi, Oyo South Senatorial Candidate, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli, Senator Ayoade Adeseun, Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi, Oyo State APC Factional Chairman, Mr. Abu Gbadamosi among others.
