The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council has congratulated a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the State, Asiwaju Mutalib Adebayo Ojo on the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on him by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
He was amongst other lawyers recommended by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC).
Ojo was among the 62 SANs sworn-in on Monday by the CJN Ariwoola. The LPPC had shortlisted the new SANs in September.
A press statement released by the Secretary of Oyo NUJ, Sola Oladapo quoted the Chairman of the Union, Ademola Babalola as eulogizing Ojo for his brilliance, professionalism and high integrity which earned him the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate.
Babalola said Ojo was a great compatriot and a lawyer with distinction who believed in the rule of law and sanctity of the judiciary.
“As the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mutalib Ojo brought finesse and laudable initiatives to the administration of Justice. He was reputed for his unyielding stance against corrupt persons in our society.
“Amongst the cabinet members of the then administration under late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Ojo acquitted himself creditably to the admiration of other aides of the then helmsman.
“He is one of the few patriots who does not suffer fools gladly and was always ready to speak truth to power no matter whose ox is gored.
On attainment of this great feat in his legal profession, Babalola expressed sincere hope and firm belief that Asiwaju Mutalib Adebayo Ojo would remain an advocate of the rule of law and be more vociferous about the greater wellbeing of the suffering masses.
