Four Suspected Kidnappers, Others Paraded By Ekiti Police Command

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Dare Ogundare, on Friday paraded 16 suspects arrested for various criminal activities including four men who were nabbed allegedly for kidnapping activities in the Oke Ako area of the state and parts of Kwara State.

Ogundare, who assured that the command under him would always rise up to its responsibility to perform its mandatory and statutory duty of protection of lives and properties of innocent citizens, said that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of Investigations.

The CP said that the police in Ekiti, in conjunction with Kogi State Police Command, arrested one Abu Hassan, popularly known as Danger and Abubakar Sodiq who are notorious kidnappers and have been terrorizing innocent citizens around Iyemero/Oke-Ako/Irele/Ipao-Ekiti Axis.

Ogundare, who said kidnap victims in the Oke Aki axis identified Danger, said “One locally made single barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. Effort is ongoing for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects.”

Ogundare said that operatives of the command also arrested One Umar Hassan and Yusuf Lawal for allegedly storming Ayenco area, Eda-Ile-Ekiti and kidnapping one Ajayi Mary Olajumoke, who was released after a ransom was allegedly paid, adding that “upon arrest of the suspects, two cutlasses and a cash sum of N82,200, which was part of the ransom collected, were recovered from them.

He added that the paraded suspected included one Ismaila, Komolafe and Aladegoke, who were arrested during a stop and search operation along Aramoko-Efon highway when a Toyota Bus occupied by the three suspects  was intercepted.

He said, “Upon searching the boot of the bus, different electric cables were found. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have vandalized the transformer connecting Isinbode Ekiti and carted away the cables that were found with them.

“The arrested suspects mentioned other suspects who are currently on the run and effort is currently ongoing to arrest them.”

According to him, the other suspects included those arrested over  alleged membership of secret cult and armed robbery in parts of the state.
