Former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Professor Adeolu Akande has congratulated members of the party and indigenes of Oyo State who were sworn in as members of the Governing Councils of universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the country.
In a statement released in Ibadan, Professor Akande also congratulated members of the APC in the state for the significant number of members of the party who were appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the governing councils of the tertiary institutions.
Professor Akande noted that the appointment is a vote of confidence of President Tinubu in the appointees and he prayed that they shall not disappoint him in their new posts.
He also prayed that the appointment will be a turning point for APC in Oyo State as the list of critical stakeholders in the party keep is increasing with the appointment to federal agencies. He enthused that the new appointees will use their good offices to help reposition the party for future elections in the state.
Professor Akande noted that he was particularly happy that the appointment into the governing councils of tertiary institutions will give the youths of Oyo State adequate representation in the institutions for the pursuit of admission and other opportunities that the institutions offer including, training and mentorship in entrepreneurship.
While encouraging the youths of Oyo State to take advantage of the high number of representatives of the state in the council of tertiary institutions for their educational advancement, he noted that they should also exploit the opportunities for entrepreneurship training and mentorship which abound in these institutions.
