The Biodun Oyebanji-led Ekiti State Executive Council has approved over N4 billion for the execution of various projects in different parts of the state.
The approvals were made known in a statement made available in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Sunday, by the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun.
Olatunbosun stated that the approvals included the award of N2bn contract for the construction of a multi-purpose building at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, adding that the project awarded to Messrs Axial Nigeria Limited and expected to be completed in 30 months, “will house four wards/wings each with 20 beds to ensure optimal patient care.
“Additional features include a pharmacy, patients waiting rooms, consulting rooms, lecture/seminar rooms, offices, reception, pay-points, conference room, medical library and car parks.”
The commissioner said that the state executives also approved N416.8 million for the procurement and installation of furniture items and fittings at the state cargo airport “to enhance the comfort and convenience of both passengers and officials of the airport.”
Other approvals include N634.1m for the procurement of two Sinotruck Howo 4×2 Hook Arm Garbage and two Sinotruck 4X2 Garbage compactors for the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority to improve the agency’s capacity “to rid the state capital of wastes and other harmful substances,” and the implementation of Biometric System for state government workers, among others.
