The Ogun State Economic Transformation Projects (OGSTEP) has distributed Computer Palmtops and Laptops and other biometric devices to the Directors and 20 Zonal Education Offices across the Local Government Areas of the State, in order to enhance service delivery, improve productivity and ensure real-time data capturing.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu during the distribution of the devices, said it was powered by OGSTEP, revealing that the development was to upgrade the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and ensure holistic coverage of the digitalised education sector.

Prof. Arigbabu, according to Mr. Samuel Ogungbesan, Information and Public Relation Officer, MOES&T, recalled that the Ministry has been organising Bi-Monthly Webinar Digital Training for all Education Officers and other staffers of the ministry to ensure the sustainability of its digital platform and compliment the efforts of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-Led administration to revitalise the education sector of the State.

He enjoined stakeholders to take advantage of the bi-weekly training to get acquainted with the nitty-gritty of the digital platform of the sector, enjoining them to make judicious use of the devices.

Now that we have digitalised the sector, the only way things can work is to make sure we have tools that we can use, please ensure you put them use” , Arigbabu stated.

Speaking, the Project Coordinator, OGSTEP, Mrs Mosun Owo-Odusi represented by the Project Manager, Skills development, Mr. Fatai Osunsanya said the support will enhance the digitization drive and improve education data collection and analysis for effective planning and administration of education in the State.

In their separate responses, The Zonal Education Officers of Ijebu East and Ewekoro Local Government, Mr. Olaniyi Amosu and Mrs Esther Olukolu appreciated the government for the development, describing it as thoughtful and timely step that would enhance activities in their various offices.
