Day Oyo’s Gov Makinde Inaugurated Projects By GCIOBA 1984 Set

Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State has inaugurated legacy projects done by the 1984 set of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA).

This was part of activities to mark the 40th reunion anniversary of the set.

The projects included renovation of the buttery and development of adjoining quadrangle for students’ recreation, donation of equipment to the library, including textbooks, purchase of 40 school uniforms for indigent students, purchase of 40 WAEC forms and 40 JAMB forms for students.

The governor, hailing the set for the laudable projects, urged alumni of schools to contribute their quota to their alma mater, saying government alone could not carry the burden of education.

The Chairman of 1984 set, Dr. Tunji Aladejebi, said the school had been more than just an institution of learning, but a community and second home where lifelong friendships were forged and character was built.

He added that the 40th anniversary of the set served as a reminder of strong network created overtime.

The Chairman of the reunion anniversary, Goke Dokun, said the school had been a beacon of excellence, fostering growth and innovation.

GCIOBA President, Wale Babalakin thanked Governor Makinde for supporting the school and for his commitment in making Government College Ibadan the best secondary school in Nigeria.
