Nigeria international, Victor Boniface has completed the first stage of his medical in Milan as he edges closer to joining the Serie A club from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 24-year-old forward is expected to join the Rossoneri on a season-long loan, with the deal including a non-mandatory option to buy for around €24m.

“Boniface’s AC Milan fitness tests have been completed,” Gianluca Di Mazio posted on X.

Milan will reportedly pay €5m for the initial loan, bringing the total potential package close to €30m.

Boniface underwent preliminary medical checks before heading to the Galeazzi Hospital in Milan for further planned examinations.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Moretto and Florian Plettenberg, the Nigerian has also agreed terms on a four-year contract that would begin should Milan make his move permanent next summer.

Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has been pushing to strengthen his attacking options after beginning the new campaign with Santiago Gimenez as the only fit centre-forward.

A slight injury to Rafael Leao, who started the club’s opening match as a makeshift striker, has added urgency to their search for reinforcements.

The Italian giants had explored moves for Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, but failed to reach an agreement.

If completed, Boniface will become Milan’s eighth signing of the summer window, following the arrivals of Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, Koni De Winter, Pervis Estupinan, Zachary Athekame and Pietro Terracciano.
