Installation Of Olubadan: Makinde’s Govt Unveils One-Week Activities

The Engineer Seyi Makinde-led government in Oyo State has unveiled a one-week programme of activities leading to the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, scheduled for Friday, September 26.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement issued after the inaugural meeting of the coronation committee, chaired by Chief Bayo Oyero, in Ibadan on Monday.

According to him, the programme will open on Monday, September 22, with an interdenominational service at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, to be organised by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes.

He said, “This will be followed by Cultural Day on Tuesday, promoted by the CCII and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

There will be a coronation lecture to be delivered by Prof. Toyin Falola. Thursday will witness Mega Praise worship at the Civic Centre, Idi Ape, while on Friday the coronation of the new Olubadan will take place at Mapo Hall.”

The meeting where the programme was adopted was attended by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Demola Ojo; the Asipa Olubadan-designate, Oba Hamidu Ajibade; Chief Nureni Adisa; Chief Adeola Oloko, media aide to the Olubadan; as well as commissioners for Culture and Tourism, Women Affairs, and Information.

Also in attendance were representatives of the 11 local government councils in Ibadanland, led by the Chairmen of Egbeda and Ibadan South East councils, alongside the House of Assembly member representing Ibadan South East, the Governor’s Protocol Director General, and permanent secretaries from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
