The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria on Monday inaugurated the committee for the screening of 2026 Hajj Tour Operators.
This was contained in a statement signed by Adeshewa Kako, in the Commission’s Information and Publications Division.
The committee, inaugurated at the Hajj House in Abuja comprises management staff of the commission alongside other key members, including representatives from the secretariat.
The development follows NAHCON’s recent announcement of the final Hajj fare for intending pilgrims, which the commission noted had dropped by N200,000 from the 2025 final Hajj fare.
The chairman, Prof Abdullahi Usman, urged intending pilgrims to complete payments before December 31, 2025.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Director of Administration, Alhaji Alidu Shittu, who represented the NAHCON chairman, described the event as “an important milestone in preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.”
He noted that the commission had full confidence in the competence and capacity of the members to deliver on the crucial assignment.
Shutti charged the committee to ensure thorough scrutiny of all documents submitted by intending Hajj Tour Operators seeking licenses for the 2026 exercise, while also directing the Committee to recommend slot allocations only to qualified and competent operators.
“You are expected to submit your recommendations to the leadership of the Commission for approval or otherwise, and produce a comprehensive report of your findings at the end of the exercise,” he said.
He also reminded the committee of the urgency of their task, stressing that “the assignment must be completed within one week in line with the deadline set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for the 2026 operations.”
He concluded with prayers for the success of their work, expressing optimism that their efforts would contribute significantly to the smooth conduct of the 2026 Hajj operations.
