
Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State has presented the sum of Eight hundred and ninety-one billion, nine hundred and eighty-five million, seventy-four thousand, four hundred and eighty naira, seventy-nine kobo (₦891,985,074,480.79) as the state budget for the 2026.
The budget, which was tagged ‘Budget of Economic Expansion’ was presented to the Oyo State House of Assembly during a special plenary session on Monday.
The 2026 Appropriation bill represents a significant increase of ₦213 billion from the 2025 budget.
While the sum of ₦502,646,477,812.85 is allocated for capital expenditure, represents 56.7% of the budget, the sum of ₦389,338,596,667.94 is allocated for recurrent expenditure, represents 43.6%.
Infrastructure and education sectors took the largest chunks of the budget The sums of ₦210,025,443,802.16 and 155,209,617,317.20, represent 23.5% and 17.4% respectfully are allocated to infrastructure and Education.
Other key sectors such as Agriculture and health get the sum of ₦19,987,210,324.16 (2.2%) and ₦70,849,163,558.07 (7.5%) respectfully.
Governor Makinde assured that he remained committed towards improving the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) without imposing new taxes on the people.
