The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council has announced plans to host the 2025 edition of its annual Carols and Nine Lessons, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, by 4:00 p.m.

The council said the event, which will take place at the Dapo Aderogba Hall of the NUJ Millennium Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, is organised to celebrate the Christmas season and promote unity among journalists and the wider public.

The programme is expected to bring together journalists, media executives, religious leaders, government officials and members of the public in an atmosphere of worship, reflection and thanksgiving, in line with the spiritual significance of the Yuletide.

In a statement issued by the Secretary of the council, Dayo Adu, described the Carols and Nine Lessons as a cherished annual tradition of the union, noting that the 2025 edition promises to be a memorable and impactful celebration.

According to the statement, the programme is designed to remind participants of the true meaning of Christmas through scriptural readings, soul-lifting carols and prayers for peace, progress and stability in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Adu disclosed that several choirs have been invited to minister in songs during the service, adding that their renditions will add colour, depth and spiritual inspiration to the event, while setting a reflective tone for the season.

He further revealed that anointed ministerof the gospel, Prophet Timothy Arabambi, the General Overseer of CAC Reformation Land, Akanran, Ibadan will be on ground to lead prayers and share brief exhortations, aimed at encouraging journalists and guests to uphold values of truth, integrity and service in their personal and professional lives.

The council also expects the presence of distinguished leaders and special guests from different sectors of society, whose attendance, according to the statement, will further underscore the importance of the programme as a platform for fellowship and goodwill.

Adu noted that the Carols and Nine Lessons, scheduled to commence promptly at 4:00 p.m., will also serve as an opportunity for members of the union to bond, appreciate God for the outgoing year and seek divine guidance for the year ahead, especially in the face of emerging challenges in the media industry, while inviting journalists and the general public to attend.
