In a proactive move to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration of the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festival, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has deployed 1,705 personnel across strategic locations within the state to provide adequate security and protect lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.
The State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, disclosed this while addressing officers ahead of the operational deployment, stating that the personnel have been strategically mobilized to ensure effective coverage of Eid prayer grounds, recreation centers, markets, motor parks, major highways, and other public places where large gatherings are expected during the celebration.
According to the Commandant, the deployment forms part of the Command’s comprehensive security strategy aimed at guaranteeing the safety of residents and visitors across the State during the festive period. He noted that operational units of the Corps, including surveillance teams, intelligence officers, the counterterrorism unit, and the emergency response team, have been placed on high alert to respond promptly to any security threats.
Commandant Padonu further emphasized that the Corps will work in close synergy with other security agencies to maintain law and order, protect critical national assets and infrastructure, and ensure that citizens celebrate the festival in a safe and secure environment.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, the Commandant issued a stern warning to criminal elements and mischief makers who may be planning to disrupt the peace of the State to abandon such intentions or stay completely away from Oyo State, as the Command is fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone found wanting.
He also urged residents to remain law-abiding, celebrate responsibly, and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in preventing crime and maintaining public safety.
The NSCDC Oyo State Command reassures the good people of Oyo State of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
