Former Minister of Power and leading All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful in the 2027 election in Oyo state, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has officially picked up the APC expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2027 governorship election.
He promised residents and indigenes of the state unprecedented development if elected governor in 2027.
Adelabu, who was represented at the event by his aide, Ajiboye Akande, obtained the forms at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, a development that ends months of speculation over his next political step following his ministerial exit
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is no stranger to the Oyo governorship race.
He was the APC candidate in 2019 and contested again in 2023 under the Accord Party before returning to the ruling party.
Party insiders say the purchase of the forms strengthens perceptions that Adelabu is currently the leading aspirant for the APC ticket.
His declaration is expected to shape zoning debates and coalition talks within the state chapter.
Adelabu commands a statewide structure built from two previous campaigns and enjoys support from youth groups, market associations, and sections of the APC leadership. His ministerial stint has also boosted his national network.
