Several Super Falcons players have raised concerns over an alleged theft incident at the team’s hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, with reports claiming that money was taken from their wallets while they were away from their rooms.
The players are currently based at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca as part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Reports indicate that some members of the squad discovered missing cash from their personal belongings during their stay.
Among those affected are Esther Okoronkwo, who allegedly lost $700, Rasheedat Ajibade, who reportedly had $200 missing, Osinachi Ohale with $100, Joy Omewa with $120, and Halimatu Ayinde with $100.
The Super Falcons are currently camped at the hotel as they put the finishing touches to their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Okoronkwo made the claims in a series of posts on her Snapchat account, alleging that cash was taken from her wallet while the team was lodged at the hotel.
She initially said $500 was missing but later clarified that, after recounting her money, she discovered a total of $700 had been stolen.
“This hotel, Marriott, in Casablanca just stole a lot of people’s money from their wallets!” Okoronkwo wrote.
“They just stole 500 USD from me!! They stole a couple of dollars from my teammate.”
In a follow-up post, Okoronkwo clarified that the amount stolen was higher than she had initially stated, writing: “Guys, I did my calculations wrong. They actually stole $700, not $500 USD.”
“The cleaning people stole the money. So they waited while we weren’t in the room to clean and steal the money.
“We started talking to them, and they don’t have answers. They also started being disrespectful.”
Justine Madugu’s side boosted their confidence with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania’s Twiga Stars in a friendly on Thursday, with Okoronkwo netting the decisive goal.
The ten-time African champions will begin the defence of their title against tournament debutants Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday.
