Popular Afrobeats star David Adeleke has the role his family has played in helping him navigate some of the most difficult moments of his life, saying their unwavering support enabled him to recover from personal loss and public controversies.
Speaking in an interview with Vibe Q, award-winning singer, popularly known as Davido, said his brothers, sisters, and father have always stood by him during his toughest moments.
“My family has been the only one helping me through scandals and problems. My brothers and sisters and my father are always the first to call me when something bad happens,” he said.
The 30BG boss recalled how his family rallied around him after he lost his child. “When I lost my child, they stayed with me till I was fine,” he said.
“They’re always happy seeing me perform because they know how broken I was when I lost my child,” he added.
Davido added that his family members understand the pain he went through and continue to check on him regularly.
“Even the days I don’t call them, they always call in to check up on me. Family should not be played with,” he added.
The singer noted that having a strong family support system has helped him stay strong throughout his career despite facing public scrutiny and personal challenges.
Speaking further, Davido claimed that no other billionaire in the world has built both a name and a fortune like he does.
“Not to brag, but which other billionaire’s child do you know in the world? I’m not talking about Africa. Who has made a name for himself and also made a lot of money? You can’t name one apart from me,” Davido said.
Davido added that growing up around wealth means luxury doesn’t impress him.
“I’ve been seeing money since I was a baby, so all these things don’t really excite me. I like to live like a regular person,” he added.
Davido added that he craves normalcy like driving a Toyota to public places without the pressure of fame.
He also praised his family for keeping him grounded through scandals and personal losses.
