The Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, has been commended by the Committee of Directors in the Institution for his commitment to staff welfare and harmonious industrial relations.
The directors who visited the Rector to felicitate with him on his substantive appointment as the Rector of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, by the Oyo State Government noted that during the period the Rector served in an acting capacity, he demonstrated commendable commitment to staff welfare and harmonious industrial relations.
“This well-deserved elevation is a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in your leadership capacity, commitment, competence, and dedication to the growth and development of our great institution. It is also in recognition of the remarkable progress recorded during your stewardship,” the directors observed.
The spokesman for the Directors, Dr. Olumuyiwa Ojo, who is the Director of the Career Development Centre, further observed that Dr. Lasisi’s administration also maintained a firm but constructive approach to student discipline, “particularly your zero-tolerance stance towards student riots and acts capable of disrupting the peace, security, and academic activities of the Institution.”
“Your achievements in the area of restoration and improvement of electricity supply across the institution deserve special commendation,” the directors observed, adding that “the positive impact of this intervention on teaching, learning, research, administration, and the general working environment cannot be overemphasized.
“Sir, your elevation to the substantive position of Rector therefore comes at a time when your leadership is already yielding visible results. We are particularly encouraged by your determination to consolidate these achievements and to pursue further initiatives that will strengthen the academic, infrastructural, administrative, and socio-economic development of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
“As you assume this important responsibility on a substantive basis, we pray that Almighty God will grant you wisdom, sound health, strength, courage, and the necessary resources to successfully steer the affairs of the institution. May your tenure be characterized by peace, progress, innovation, staff and student satisfaction, academic excellence, infrastructural renewal, and sustainable institutional development.
“We wish to assure you that all Directors of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, stand firmly with your administration and are committed to providing the necessary support, cooperation, and professional guidance required to move the institution forward,” the Directors further pledged.
In his response, the Rector expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for the opportunity given to him to serve The Polytechnic, Ibadan, as Rector.
He also assured the governor, the state government, the governing council, management, staff, and students of the polytechnic, Ibadan, that he would do everything humanly possible to lift the institution to the highest possible level in teaching, learning, innovations, quality control, and moral development.
