Mr Gboyega Oyetola, Osun State’s Governor-elect has lauded civil servants in the state for their efficiency, sacrifices and supports for the Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration, describing them as the best workers in Nigeria.
Oyetola who expressed gratitude to the entire workforce in the state for his election, spurred them to put more efforts in increasing them Internally Generated Revenue of the state to make it self-sufficient financially.
According to Oyetola, the customary allocation from the federation account may cease sooner than expected, saying that it is incumbent on the civil servants who are the engine room of the government to drive Osun to an economic sustainable status.
Oyetola said this would enable the government to carry out statutory tasks of payment of salaries and emoluments.
Speaking at a special thanksgiving organised in his honour by civil servants in the state on Thursday, Oyetola maintained that his administration would redouble efforts at further smoothening relationships between the government and workers.
He noted that the services of the civil servants would ever remained a core of success or otherwise of the government, urging them to support his administrations wholeheartedly.
The governor-elect declared that Osun has the best civil service in the country, pledging ‘to improve my relations with workers in the state and raise the bar of governance.’
In her address, the Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori described the governor-elect as the brain behind the innovation which prevented the untoward during the salary payment crisis, adding that he was ever humble, amiable, gentle, brilliant and approachable.
Speaking, the Head of Service in the state, Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega explained the programme was organised to express the workers’ solidarity and support for the incoming government.
