Bring Back Our Girls’ ‘stronglady’, Dr Obiageli Oby Ezekwesili has confirmed the release of another set of Chibok Girls by their Boko Haram abductors.
Obviously reacting to the news making the rounds online that about 82 of the school girls have been released, Ezekwesili, on his Facebook page on Sunday morning declared “It is real!, It is a fact, another set of our Chibok Girls are back folks! We rejoice and praise God with their parents, the Federal Government.”
An online newsmedium, Sahara Reporters had earlier reported that 82 out of the 250 Chibok girls that were kidnapped sometime in 2014 had been released.
Quoting a direct information allegedly obtained from “a top military source,” the online medium said the girls, numbering 82 or thereabouts, were released after negotiations between the Islamist group and the Federal Government.
Wrote Sahara Reporters “Our source revealed that the 82 girls who just regained their freedom are currently in Banki town in Borno State, awaiting airlift to an unknown destination.
“The source added that once the girls are secured in a new location, they would be debriefed, undergo psychological and medical test and then be reunited with their families.”
