Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr has admitted that his side found it difficult breaking down a resolute defensive Seychelles team in their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Asaba on Friday, and now wants an improvement.
Super Eagles finished their AFCON qualification campaign on a winning note, beating the Pirates of Seychelles 3-1 with goals from Odion Ighalo, Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon. Melanie Rody got Seychelles’ only goal of the encounter
The gaffer reiterates his side must improve.
“They only defended,” Rohr was quoted by ESPN. “It was attack against defence, so we tried to come in from the wings.”
“We made a lot of mistakes still in the construction of the game, so we have to improve.”
Rohr also praised the pair of Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon for their brilliant display.
He also defends Francis Uzoho for the howler he made during the game which gifted Seychelles a goal.
“In the second half we scored two nice goals. They were very positive and and important when the other team defend so much.
“There was an individual mistake that can happen to anybody.”
