Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has approved the appointment of Prince James Oluwafemi Olugbesoye as the new Oluloro of Iloro-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government.

Prince Olugbesoye, who was born on 25th July, 1963, is from the Arojojoye Ruling House.

According to a statement personally signed by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, the appointment, which is with immediate effect, is in line with the provisions of the Chiefs Law Cap C5 Law of Ekiti State (2002).

The State Executive Council at its meeting held on 30th October, 2019, considered and approved Prince Olugbesoye’s nomination as the new Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti.

The throne became vacant after the demise of Oba Michael Ayoola Arowolo of the Arowolo Ruling House on 16th May, 2015.

Consequently, the Bureau of Chieftaincy Affairs in a letter dated 2nd October, 2015, directed Ijero Local Government Council to put in motion, necessary machinery for the Arojojoye Ruling House, which is the next to fill the vacant stool.

The three candidates, who vied for the royal stool, are Prince James Oluwafemi Olugbesoye, Prince Adebayo Stephen Fajuyigbe and Prince Olowookere Ayoola Samuel.

The three Ruling Houses in Iloro-Ekiti are Arowolo, Arojojoye and Orubuloye, which are recognized by the Iloro-Ekiti Chieftaincy Declaration.

The town’s six Kingmakers proceeded to conduct extensive investigation and consultation to determine if the candidates are suitable for the vacant stool, the outcome of which was discussed at a meeting held on 9th September, 2019.

At the meeting which comprised the kingmakers, the Arojojoye Ruling House and the candidates, it was unanimously agreed that Prince James Oluwafemi Olugbesoye should be presented as the candidate to fill the vacant stool.

The Memorandum of the State Executive Council approving Prince Olugbesoye’s appointment has been cleared by the State Ministry of Justice and the Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The State Executive Council has also authorized the publication of the legal notice in the State Government Gazette.
