No fewer than sixteen Medical Doctors have been employed by the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration in Ekiti State within the last 100 days.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani dropped the hint while briefing Journalists about the achievements of the Ministry since his assumption of office 100 days ago.
Dr. Oyebanji who noted that the newly employed Doctors were to augment the services of the existing ones across all the health facilities in the State, added that there have been improvement in health security and data collection to support performance management and upgrades of human resources as well as improvement in commodity availability.
He said a three- day retreat was organized to develop an implementation plan for health sector, with participants drawn from Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Health Institutions across the State in order to improve their health care services.
Dr. Oyebanji stressed further that the ministry has strengthened preparedness and response to infections and disease outbreaks by leveraging on resource from COVID-19 response.
“Working with the NCDC, we have finalized plans to establish a public health and molecular laboratory in the state bringing to two the number of molecular laboratories. We have this guarantees that we can possibly response to possible outbreaks as we can now have the capacity for the testing” Oyebanji added.
He informed that Ekiti State government has received and distributed over 12,000 face masks, 10 ambulances and other personal protective equipment donated by the SDG office.
Dr. Oyebanji also disclosed that the Ministry in collaboration with the office of the wife of the State Governor has strengthened advocacy against Gender Based Violence and successfully celebrated the World Mental Health Day.
The commissioner however thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for his continuous support and implementation of health programs in the State, assuring that more prospects await the Ministry in future.
