Dare Right To Postpone National Sports Festival – Delta Government

0

Delta State Sports Commission chairman, Tonebok Okowa, has backed sports minister Sunday Dare on the postponement of the National Sports Festival, saying it was inevitable.

The festival was postponed after Monday’s emergency meeting of the National Council on Sports convened by the sports minister, Sunday Dare.

According to a statement from the sports ministry, the postponement was occasioned by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and paucity of funds.

The PUNCH on Tuesday exclusively reported that the NCS had proposed April 8 to 22 and April 10 to 22 dates for the festival.

“It’s only necessary for it to be postponed. Nothing can be done if the host state feels they need to postpone it and the sports ministry feels the same, due to the fact that some things are not in place. Then its okay,” Okowa said.
