Another N250m Released By Fayemi To Pay 86 Retirees

Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has released another sum of N250million as pension to 86 retirees in the State.

The acting Executive Secretary of Ekiti State Pension Transitional Arrangement Department (PTAD), Mr. Francis Omotoso who made this known in Ado Ekiti, explained that the N250 million would offset the outstanding balance of pension for May and June, 2013.

Stressing that the benefiting pensioners were paid their full due pension, Omotoso emphasized that the proposed scheme aimed at fast tracking payment of backlog of retirees’ gratuities through a negotiated discount process have been utterly jettisoned in line with the demand of affected stakeholders.

He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the welfare of people in the State, particularly the elderly citizens that had served the State meritoriously.

Omotoso said that Governor Fayemi has promised to regularly release tranches of N250million to pay pensions until all outstanding retirement benefits are cleared.

In her remarks, the State Head of Service (HoS), Mrs. Peju Babafemi advised the affected pensioners to be prudent with the money and expend it on veritable ventures that would improve their life.

Mrs. Babafemi who cautioned the pensioners against spending the money on frivolities, stressed the need to for carefully planned and well managed ventures that would guarantee a stable and comfortable future for them and their families.

Describing the commitment of Governor Kayode Fayemi to the general wellbeing of pensioners in the State as commendable, Babafemi solicited their continued support for the present administration’s efforts to rapidly develop the State and improve the lots of the people.

Two of the benefiting pensioners, Mrs. Akintade Margret and Mr. Saliu Lamidi who spoke on behalf of other benefiting pensioners, lauded the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to their welfare.

The Chairman of Nigeria Pensioners Ekiti State Chapter, Comrade Joel Akinola also expressed gratitude to Governor Fayemi for what he described as his concerted efforts to improve the lots of pensioners in the State.
