Eminent Nigerians across the country, including Ekiti’s Governor Kayode Fayemi, gathered to pay their last respect to the former Provost of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, Professor Francisca Aladejana as her body was finally laid to rest in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital on Thursday, 24th June, 2021.
Speaking at the event, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti State, Bishop Felix Ajakaye charged the people to impact lives positively while on earth and shun evil while admonishing them to be a blessing to people in dire need of material and emotional support.
He, however, admonished the youths to put an end to their various fraudulent activities contributing to the social ills in the society while urging them to take a cue from the lifestyle of the late Professor Francisca Olu Aladejana who lived her life void of depending on others but motivated herself to achieve the best of her situation.
The Bishop further counseled the youths to be self-reliant and works towards achieving greatness in life.
Speaking further, the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi while addressing the congregation at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ado Ekiti commended the late Professor for helping the state to raise the enrollment figure in primary schools during her stint as the chairman.
According to the Governor, “the late Professor Francisca Olu Aladejana raised the enrollment figure in our primary schools and this happened during her tenure as the chairman of SUBEB chairman in Ekiti State in which the enrollment figures in our primary schools rose to over 40,000 new intakes. She assisted the state to run most of her World Bank Assisted Projects as my Special Adviser on Basic and Technical Education”.
Until her death, she was the Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Basic Education and Secondary Education in the state and previously served as the Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
